BELSIZE PARK, NW3
Glenilla Road
Murnells has been commissioned to build two iconic properties on the site of a former Spitfire factory turned community hall, located in the prestigious neighbourhood of Belsize Park.
Our two clients purchased the site, then obtained planning permission together, and have subsequently designed two highly contemporary, four storey homes that beautifully complement the local aesthetic.
Each property has a basement and the houses are constructed with load bearing brickwork to support the three floors above ground level. The specialist bricks were imported from Belgium and have been used as a design feature, with brick work being left exposed in each property to a varying level.
Concrete floors have been cast and polished in situ, as has a curved concrete staircase. Both properties have high specification, luxurious kitchens and one has the added feature of a dedicated BBQ area in the rear grounds. Italian manufactured lighting has been installed throughout, while air source heat pumps have been installed to centrally heat both homes.
Working on a residential street on this long-term project involved substantial communication and engagement with neighbours. Murnells carried out regular leaflet door drops to keep the local residents informed about the progress of works and any temporary disruptions.
